The Science behind great skin
SkinPen microneedling, otherwise known as collagen induction therapy, is a treatment that works deep within the epidermis and dermis to rejuvenate the skin’s natural appearance by regenerating the production of new collagen and elastin while stimulating the production of healthy new cells.
SkinPen needle cartridges host 14 tiny sterile needles that create microscopic punctures to the skin, whereby the body works naturally to repair these wounds. While the body responds to the wound healing, new capillaries are formed to increase the blood flow, and new collagen and elastin begin to improve the overall texture of the treated skin.
SkinPen® microneedling is a safe treatment, with zero risks of cross-contamination. The results are gradual, with some visible results seen within the first several days. The recommendation is to have a minimum for three treatments to maximise full results, depending on the patient’s goal. This might be to reduce the signs of ageing or acne scarring. Procedures are done every 4-6 weeks over a three to four-month period.
