Acne & Breakout Prone Skin
Acne is a common condition caused by inflammation of the hair follicle and sebaceous gland
There are three main causes of Acne:
- Excess sebum production. Sebum is a naturally occurring substance produced to waterproof and moisturise the skin and hair. Acne sufferers may produce too much or the sebum may be thicker and stickier.
- Altered keratinisation means that dead skin cells aren’t sloughed off the skin regularly, causing blockage of follicles.
- Blocked follicles can lead to a growth in P.acne bacteria. This enzyme breaks down the sebum into fatty acids and glycerol that irritate the lining of the follicle.
P.acne Bacteria reproduce every 4-5 hours so active homecare is essential to keep this production under control and reduce breakouts.
Our treatments from AlumierMD, Environ and Dermalux treat these main causes of Acne, by managing the p.acne bacteria, reducing inflammation, enhancing cell turnover and protecting the skins barrier function.
At SKINROOM, we examine your skin holistically which would include consideration of dietary intake and possible use of internal Skin Supplements from our Advanced Nutrition Programme to treat hormonal activity that attributes to acne and breakouts.
